Our local supermarket has a community room on the top level, and offers differnt workshops and learning circles for kids. I saw a gingerbread workshop advertised, and signed my kids right up! Miley has been begging to decorate gingerbread cookies again ( she did it the first time in her parent and tot playtime class ) and I am all about someone else providing the tools, and cleaning up the mess!! So we were in! It`s also a great time to get out of the house, and give dad a few solid hours of quiet study time.
When we arrived at the workshop the kids were given these sweet hats, and invited to start decorating.
Scotlin is into giving every face he can think of to the camera these days... except for a smile. You`ll see what I mean...
Instantly, they were letting the creativity flow, and lovin every minute of it!
Next came the ginerbread houses...
Some were broken in the process.
Some were eaten in the process...
But in the end, they had one awesome finished product, and had a blast puttin it together.
Trying to give me a `CHEESE...`
At the workshop there was more cookie decorating ( and eating ) and we were provided lunch along with stickers, balloons, candy canes and more.
The kids were so excited to show Daddy what they had done when we came home.
There was also a drawing at the end of class, and out of all the kids there, Miley`s name was drawn. When the teacher called her name Miley jumped right off her chair and went straight up in front of everyone to collect her prize.. she was thrilled to be the proud winner of this great holiday apron.
Even though Justin is in finals, it feels like a bit of the break has already begun. It has been so nice to not wake up every morning to the alarm clock ( even though that will happen again next week ) and just have a few minute to enjoy the morning together before he starts studying. We also love having him home, even if he has to barracade himself into the bedroom. It`s hard to belive the semester is winding down. Truly hard to belive. It has all gone so quickly.
We are enjoying this holiday season so much, and working hard to make it special and memorable. We`re looking forward to when the real break begins! It`s so close!
