Christmas Eve
Justin and I celebrated Christmas with our kids early this year because we are flying back to Utah to spend the holidays with our family.
It was fun to watch Miley get excited about Christmas this year, and having baby Scotlin here for his very first Christmas makes this year extra special.
Here are some of the highlights of our Christmas Eve...
What?,... Christmas??
Oh!... Christmas!!
This year we are celebrating a Christmas of firsts. It's our first Christmas in Nova Scotia, and our first Christmas as a family of four.
For Our Christmas Eve we started out by having a fancy candle lit dinner together.
After dinner we baked chocolate chip cookies together to leave out for Santa.
We got out the crayons, and Miley wrote Santa a letter to let him know she's been a good girl this year.
We have a tradition to open one gift on Christmas Eve. So before bedtime Miley and Scotlin got to open up their Christmas P.j.'s.
First it was Miley's turn. We wrapped all of her gifts with Disney Princess paper so she will know which ones are hers. She got excited when she saw a surprise inside the wrapping paper, but she was not quite sure what to do with it, so after she opened her jammies she kept trying to wrap them back up.
After she realized she could keep them, she carried them all around the house. She even tried to give them a swing...
Next it was Scotlin's turn to open up his very first Christmas present.
His gifts were wrapped in Mickey Mouse paper. (Mostly so Miley knows they are not for her.) Scotlin just needed a little help from Dad to get it open.
Then it was time to get their new p.j.'s on,
and hold hands. ;)
We got the kiddos all snuggled up into bed with promises Santa will be coming.
Tomorrow morning will surely bring more smiles.

how darling. I would have never thought to do this with Sammy last year before we flew home for Christmas. All of you were even dressed up for the occasion. Thanks for the cute idea of making cookies for Santa. I think we may need to do that. Scotlin and Sammy have the same Christmas jammies. I love that their gifts were even wrapped in specific paper, what a cute and thoughtful idea. I now want to (but won't) wrap Sammy's presents over again.
You guys are too cute! I love it! Can't wait to see what Santa brings. Your cookies look yummy!
How fun!! And Jess, you are looking amazing, by the way! Remind me, did you have a baby?
Can't wait to see pictures from tomorrow. And can't wait to see you guys in just about a week! And can't wait to squeeze those cute little kids of yours! YAY!
Very cute! My kids get to unwrap their Christmas jammies Christmas Eve too...sadly not quite as exciting as a new toy but I am sure they'll be happy with the early present. Hope you guys have a great time in Utah for Christmas!
So sweet. I let my kids open the Christmas PJs on Christmas Eve as well:) You guys are such a darling family. Smart idea to have your own Christmas and then be able to celebrate with family too! I am not sure if we will be there at Grandmas because we are going to stay in Midway during that week, but hopefully we will see you guys!
How fun for you to celebrate Christmas before you leave. THat's so much better than hauling all of their gifts to Utah and then hauling them all back. That's what we did our first year. Dumb I know. Actually I think I ordered most of it online, had it shipped to my moms and it was all there when we got to Utah but we did have to bring it all back. It was a pain! My kids get to open their Christmas PJ's on Christmas Eve too...it's a great tradition! Hope you guys have a great Christmas in Utah!
I wish I were able to see you and visit with you and pamper you and lavish you with compliments...IN PERSON!
Your two are so adorable. I love that Scotlin smiles for the camera. And Miley? She makes me grin every time I see her picture. What a fun little person.
Have a safe trip here!
