Stories and Pics

We took the kids out shopping one saturday with their left over birthday money. In the car I gave them both a quarter, and told them this was what they had to spend. They had to learn to hang onto it, and explained to them to spend it wisely.
This story perfectly explains the difference between boys and girls. Because before we even got to the store Miley had spent her money 3 times over in her head, and Scotlin had already decided not to spend his, but save it instead.

While we shopped around it was hard for Miley to make her selection. She heavily weighed her pros and cons, went back and forth many times with her choice of toys and how to properly spend her money. Scotlin found one little hot wheels car and was set. Even when we would show him a whole set of hot wheels cars he would say "no thanks, I already have a car."
So, I had to laugh and snap this pic as we stood in the checkout line. Miley doing her best to juggle and hang onto all her goods, and Scotlin, happy as can be with his ONE little race car.

Holidays are a big deal around here. Halloween was a major hit, and the kids still talk about it now. Lately they have been climbing on a broomstick and running through the house together, giggling and laughing themselves silly.
They can't stop talking about our christmas traditions, and even though I am not quite ready for it, the two of them (with help from their dad) have ganged up on me, and are seeing to it that the christmas tree is up before the close of the weekend.

The kids spent an afternoon with their dad while I was attending a church event this past week. There were many smiles that crossed my face as I went through these pictures on our camera from their day together. Miley wanted to play Princess (As she always does). They built castles with their blocks, and their dad helped them make these awesome crowns so they could both play the part.
You have no idea how happy it made me to see Scotlin dressed like the King, tie and all... because 9 times out of 10, this poor kid is forced to be a princess.  He's a great sport at playing with an older sister who loves to lead the way and choose the games they play together. Luckily dad was there this time to show him how real men play princess castles. ;)

(Love the soccer balls and footballs on Dooey's Crown. So manly. )

Lucky kids.

Someone Started Preschool!

Our little Dooey Man started Preschool this week.
It may have been in a more untraditional way, but he has proven himself ready, willing, and wanting.
Every time we took Miley to, or picked her up from preschool Scotlin would ask if he could stay.
Miley has had nothing but a wonderful experience, and comes home raving about every detail only making it harder for Scotlin to understand why he hasn't been able to join in on the fun.

At first, I thought preschool would be something nice for Miley to do all on her own, and give them both a little break from each other. I learned quickly this was all in my head, because they never wanted to be apart! :)
Everyday she had school, he wanted to be there, and she wanted him to come along.
I decided this is one of those things I'll have to chalk up to their ages being so close.
They literally do everything together, always have, and obviously like it that way.
So, who am I to hold him back?

I loved having Dooey Dates with my little buddy during our alone time together, but I know in the back of my mind, as the winter weather comes near, and a new baby joining our family, he'll probably enjoy the atmosphere of preschool with sister a little more than being home watching movies with me. ;)

I was a little worried sending him to school. (He's my baby!!) So, I asked the teachers if we could give it a trial run. At the end of the first week their report was positive. They said he did better than most kids starting out. We all felt confident letting him join the group. He has been nothing but happy to be there.

I always worry about my little Dooey (can't help it) when he's there, so I am always sure to have my phone near by. I am always waiting for a phone call from the preschool saying he's had an accident, or is fighting with a classmate, etc...
It only took 3 days, and that phone call came. Ha! :)
I got out of the shower to the phone ringing, and dashed to it having a feeling it was the preschool.
Sure enough, it was his teacher saying he had hit his head with a heavy toy, and was bleeding quite a bit. I know Scotlin is one very tough little kid, but I ran down to the preschool as fast as I could to make sure he was okay.
He had a very small cut on the top of his head, but we were having a hard time getting it to stop bleeding, so I loaded him up and took him down to our family clinic. The nurse checked him over, cleaned the cut, and sent our little man home with a smile. All was well.

I always bank on a disaster or two a day, so when they come I'm not surprised. :)
I doubt this will be our last phone call, although, I do hope so! :)
Overall, I know he is having a great time, and he wasn't at all phased by his little incident.
I am glad he is happy and participating in positive things. Win Win for all of us.
Just wish these sweet little kids didn't grow up so fast.

Fall Festivities and Halloween

We've enjoyed a colorful and beautiful fall, and a few fun festivities along the way.

Face painting at the fall craft fair.
(the kids were thrilled over this.)

playing in, enjoying, and raking up lots and lots and lots of leaves.
(I don't remember this many from the years before...)

the colors have been so beautiful this year!

 Pumpkin carving!

Halloween and Trick or Treating!!
Our Monkey Dooey

Both kids picked their costumes this year, and both played and stayed in character when those costumes were on. Miley danced and pranced around like a princess, and insisted that she needed a Prince to go with her ensamble, so she quickly found a replacement... with Miley's help, Scotlin went from a regular monkey into "Handsome Dooey Monkey Prince."

Family Pic.
I might have a great big belly these days.

Back home for visitors, movies, snacks, and trick or treating with friends.

Ready to trick or treat in the wind and rain.
We're hard core.

The kids loved Halloween this year, and are a bit sad they have to wait a year until it comes again.
They were sweet and polite at each door step trick or treating, and it was very fun taking them out to have such a good time. (No pics of Mi trick or treating... can't keep up with the girl. :) ... )
They both have enough candy to ration for months, and they have taken great pride in counting it, over and over and over again.
It's been a successful holiday, and wonderful, enjoyable fall season.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Anniversary!

Justin and I celebrated our sixth anniversary this month.
There has been a lot of progression, learning, and growth in the past six years, and I love reflecting upon the experiences we`ve had in our past, now in the present, and those still yet to come.
We are better people because of each other, best friends to one another, and in love - truer, deeper, and stronger now more than ever.
It`s been a beautiful journey thus far. One I am grateful for everyday.

Celebrating 3 Years!

I am positive there is no way to ever fully describe how much I love my baby boy.
But I can do my best to record some of the things I love and admire right now.

Scotlin, you are one of my best friends!
It's been confirmed to me time and time again what a gift and blessing you are to our lives.
I know you were sent to bring pure joy and happiness, and you do!
You make life easy and fun!
You are sweet, sweet, sweet! Your heart is pure. Your mind is sharp, and I`ve never seen any other be as quick to learn.
I love the way you sing along just a second behind the music so I can hear your little voice trying to keep up with the words.
You still love your books, and I still love reading to you. We stop our day many times to sit down together and read - my favorite time of the day, and one of my favorite things about you!
You are already a well trained little gentleman! Always thoughtful of your mom and sister, bending over backwards to find ways to be helpful and loving.
There is nothing better than the sound of your little voice by our bedside before 6:00 each morning whispering: `Daddy, I want to snuggle with you...`
We LOVE our snuggles with our Dooey!
You are so easy to please, and are constantly found with a smile on your face.
Thank you, my sweet son, for 3 wonderful, easy, fun, precious, priceless, loving, and enjoyable years! It has been our joy and priviledge celebrating You!

With all our love,
Happy Birthday!

For his birthday, all Scotlin wanted was cake. Every time we asked him the answer stayed the same. Cake.
Did I mention how easy he is to please??
After some time we were able to get a little more out of him, and his request for cake became Blue Cake. So, of course, I was more than happy to make him his very own blue cake. And we managed to put together a few other things for him as well. ;)

We enjoyed a full day honoring Dooey and all the things he loves.
Dad stayed home from class for the morning so we could start the day celebrating our little man.
I made him french toast and smoothies for breakfast, and then we watched him open and admire his gifts. He was thrilled over his race car tracks (so into hotwheels right now!), Blue cake, cards, and even new shirts! :) He was the happiest boy in the world.

The rest of the morning he spent playing with his `car race.`  Happy as can be!
I didn`t do so well to document his afternoon with the camera, but the rest of the day was just how he wanted it.
A swing in to the playground with friends, and then off to swimming class.
Scotlin has a swimming class each thursday, this week, luckily and conveniently falling on his birthday... All he wanted to do for his birthday was swim with his 4 favorite friends from swim class.
He always has a great time, and this time was extra special as he reported back to me that his class sang Happy Birthday to him.

After a fun day of playing and swimming we came home for a quick rest before his big pizza party. :)
We brought home pizza for dinner as soon as Daddy came home. Another Dooey Favorite. The night was topped off singing, balloons, and of course, blue cake!

Scotlin was sweet as can be and happy all day. Constantly thanking me for his birthday. He loved his blue decorations, cake, and race cars. When we asked him if he had a good birthday, he responded:
"I had a WONDERFUL birthday!"
Just love this kid! :)
Thank you for the special phone calls, cards and messages for our little boy. He felt very special on his big day, thanks to all the love.
