I don't know how we could possibly pack any more fun into one summer. And, just when I think fall is arriving, we have another August afternoon over 100 degrees. If the excellent weather, and the countdown to Justin's semester starting up again aren't enough reasons to get out and play, maybe the famous Nova Scotian blueberries will be!
The Griffin family invited us out to Annapolis Valley to pick blueberries and raspberries. This is something we have heard a lot about, and have wanted to do, so we were grateful for the invite, and jumped at the chance to join.
Justin kept teasing me for taking pictures from the car, but I couldn't help myself. Sometimes Nova Scotia honestly takes my breath away. I know I will miss living here when we have to move away, and so I am trying to soak up all the memories while I can. This picture was taken on our way out to the Valley. I love the endless harvest fields, and wild flowers.
And I can not get over how both sides of the highway are chuck full of lush, green forest.
We didn't know exactly what to expect when we came out to the blueberry fields, but what we found was acres upon acres of plump, juicy, sweet, and ripe berries ready to be plucked one by one.
And so we began. Filling the buckets around our necks. Miley's blueberries never made it to her bucket. They just went strait to her mouth. That was okay though, because we were free to eat as many as we wanted while we were there, and take as many as we wanted back home.
Right about now was when I got yelled at for picking on the wrong bush!:) Whoops! Didn't know there were such strict berry picking rules!
King Scotlin. Just squawk and we'll feed you all the blueberries your heart desires. He could not get enough. I think he left with a blue tongue.
Taking a break to eat berries in the shade. It was as hot as Miley's face is red!
Raspberries! Big, Fresh, Ripe Raspberries right from the bush are so incredibly delicious! Incredibly. Delicious!
Everything about Raspberries reminds me of my Grandma and Grandpa Prince.
Their smell. The taste. Everything.
Made me miss him again, but grateful to be thinking of him today.
For my little boy who loves fresh fruit, this day was his dream come true!
We had a wonderful day in Annapolis Valley, and now our fridge is full of gigantic, tasty berries, as fresh as they come! It was fun watching the kids chow down, and as always we love making special memories with our closest friends!
