Justin and I drove the kids up to Logan so we could visit and stay with Jason and Heidi. We have been planning and looking forward to the visit for a long time.
As we drove through Sardine Canyon we could not help reminiscing about the good times we had there, and the very special friends and accountancies we made while living there. We talked about the tiny little attic apartment we made our first place, and joked about previous landlords. We thought back to the time when we had our first child, and what it was like to bring her home.
As we came out of the canyon and looked over the valley we felt more at home than when we arrived in Salt Lake City. Not a lot has changed in the past year, and it was hard not to miss it.
We had such a great time staying with Jason and Heidi! They opened their home to us in every way imaginable, and even gave us their bed for the weekend. Heidi spoiled us with delicious gourmet meals every time we turned around, and Miley was spoiled with lots and lots of playtime with her favorite cousin Sadie and all her toys!
Miley loved Sadie's house and wanted to do everything Sadie was doing. They ate together, bathed together, and I bet they would have slept in the same bed if we had let them! When we left Miley would ask if we were going to "Sadie's house?" every time we got in the car.
Saturday morning we went out for a walk. We walked the kids around the Logan Temple and then Jason and Heidi took us to one of their favorite playgrounds.
It is an indescribable feeling to be sitting in a familiar house with familiar people chit chatting like you live down the street, when the reality is we live far apart, and miss one another terribly. But, it is also hard to describe how great it is to see those friends, catch up with them, and feel for a minute like nothing has changed.
I got to meet my girlfriend Erin's new sweet little baby Samantha, and Miley got to see her little first year friend Aurora. They are both so adorable, smart, and sweet. It makes me miss them so much! I also caught up with my other friend Erin, and I am wishing I had taken a picture of her and her dashingly handsome little stud Bennett. I loved seeing you guys! Both Erin's are my sister-in-law's neighbors! Which means three of my very favorite families live on the same street! It was so fun seeing all of them on our old stomping grounds!
Sunday we went to church together, which was fun to see how the ward had changed. We ran into our good friend Dr. Michael Visick. Seeing him really made our trip to Cache Valley complete! We owed him so many thank you's, and it was so nice to be able to give them in person.
While we were in Logan we jumped up to Preston for the Famous Preston Night Rodeo. My grandparents live in Preston, Idaho, and it is a family tradition to go to the rodeo every year. We didn't take a lot of pictures while we were there, and we actually didn't even make it to the rodeo but we did get out to the barn to feed grandpa's horses. Here is our little cowgirl making her Great Grandpa T. proud.
Cache Valley in one of our favorite places in Utah. President Brigham Young said it was the most beautiful valley in Utah." It's where I was born. I have family there. It's where Justin and I began our marriage and family, and it is where we made life long friends. We enjoyed living there so much, and visiting again made us miss it BAD! I would be lying if I said I didn't shed a few tears when we left. Not because I was sad, but because it has such a very special place in our hearts.
