We've always talked about taking the kids over to the temple to walk around the grounds for family night or a Sunday drive, etc. It never has been easy to make it happen in our time here since the temple is not close to where we live, and anytime we are going there, usually, our kids are not with us. Rainbow Haven Beach is literally just down the street from the temple, so on the day we went out there, we decided to go over and enjoy the temple grounds afterwards as well.
We had to bribe the kids off the beach with a promise to stop for an ice cream cone. Our good friend Dale is in charge of taking care of the temple grounds, and so he invited us in to enjoy our ice cream on the grass, and afterwards took us for a little tour.
It was a perfectly beautiful day to be there walking around, and so we got lucky in that way. Dale was kind enough to show us the gardens, and share a few touching stories with us as he has labored here for may long hours. One unique thing we got to see on the tour was the old Angel Moroni that had to be taken down for repairs. It was just in the shed, and he asked if we would like to see it, and we said `YES!` It was actually very cool to see it up close and so life like. Don't see that everyday!
This temple is very special to us, and today made it even more so. Another great day for the books. :)
