Peeling Back the Layers of Winter

This picture really doesn`t have anything to do with anything. This was last Saturday morning after breakfast. They love to play under the table with all the chairs tucked in while I clean up. They say it`s their special cave. They were both trying to say `cheese`but really Miley was more concerned with seeing herself in the camera. -Under the table, once again; one of their favorite places to play!

Today was a good day. Miley told me over and over what a wonderful day she was having, and so that is what I really want to record and remember.
It was warm today. I think it was 51 degrees which is the highest it`s been all year.
There was no wind (or at least very little) which can only be described as miraculous. I can`t remember the last time I was outside without the wind stabbing the cold into my body!
It was so nice I couldn`t help but stop at the playground after running our errands. We must have been there for hours. (It`s so weird, but when your standing there, and you actually feel warm, it`s like I can`t remember how frigid it felt yesterday when it felt like my fingers were going to fall off from frost bite after pumping gas.)
Miley went down the `big girl slide` today for the first time. It was the tallest one that curls around. She usually loves any slide that is strait, and doesn`t dare going down the big curly one.
But, today, she did it. On her own. And I was so proud of her.
The playground was crowded. There were tons of kids out enjoying the warm afternoon. I saw Miley go down the slide and look at all the kids around her like `Did you see that!! I went down all by myself!`
No one noticed her, or cared.
Except me.
I had the biggest smile on my face, and when she searched the playground, and finally found my face, Her face lit up to match mine. She ran to me where I hugged her, congratulated her, and we shared high fives. She went down 100 more times.
We headed over to the swings. Scotlin loves to swing at a nice leisurely pace. He would be content to swing for hours. Miley wanted me to push her as high as the swing would go. She kept yelling `higher! higher!` through her giggles.
She yelled out to me `Mom, I am having tooo much fun today!`

When we made it back home, we came inside to start supper.
She stayed by my side helping to make a salad and boil the noodles. She always asks if she can help prepare every meal. And, she is a great help. We usually talk about the day; the things she saw, or has questions about. Tonight she kept telling me: `I had the best day ever! I loved today! I had so much fun!`
Nothing makes me happier.

A little sunshine goes a long way with me and Miley. We are looking forward to many more afternoons at the playground. Welcome to spring.

That was probably the cutest story I've ever heard in all my life! What a sweetheart she is! I'm so glad she tackled the big curly slide!
