The Tall Ships sail through the Halifax Harbor only once every 3 years. I remember the festival going on right before we moved here 3 years ago, because I saw pictures from the student families who were here at the time. I looked at those tall ships, and marveled at this place we would soon be calling our home. Knowing it would happen only once during our time here made it an event we looked forward to very much. Now, 3 years later, being here in person is just as majestic as we pictured it to be in years before. And now, the harbor, ships, and coastline are familiar and loved territory for our family.
The kids had been excited to see the ships we had been telling them all about.
Miley's mission for the day was to "Meet the Captain," and once she settled in on that focus she never lost sight. She stowed away a few treats in her pocket to share with him once that moment came to meet him for the first time.
Scotlin's mission for the day was to do nothing other than to pull this kissey face in every picture.
I'd say mission accomplished....
The U.S. Coast Guard was the largest ship in the harbor, and our favorite to tour as well. There was just so much to see, and it was fascinating to me to see every living quarter, the way it was made, and with what materials. We'd never seen anything like it. The "Parade of Sails" was the day we were scheduled to fly to Utah, so we weren't able to see it, although we would have really liked to. Too bad there probably won't be a next time.

Miley and "The Captain"
Yes, he was slipped a few treats for his pocket.
A very neat day. Another one for the books.
