Miley started Kindergarten this year. After great consideration, and a lot of persuasion I was convinced it was the right thing to do. ;) And it was. She is a happier child in school, and I always say she must have been born to be a student because she is great at it! She loves school, and is thriving in every way.
I was doing a pretty good job holding it together... not having any of those loose it moments when you break down and bawl that your baby is going to school. She had been so excited, and seeing her so thrilled helped me to feel calm moving forward.
The night before school started Justin gave her a very sweet father's blessing. As we gathered as a family, and as I heard the precious words encourage our little girl, the tears began to flow. I came unglued. ;) After the blessing Miley saw me crying, and so tenderly came to my side and wrapped her arms around my neck. We embraced for a long time until she, with her sweet little voice whispered in my ear, "Do you need to blow your nose?" I burst out laughing. :) She instantly turned my tears and fears to lighthearted joy. She's so funny, and is so ready for this, I had nothing to cry about.
It was a very sweet night, and I went to bed just as excited as she was and knowing we were both in for a great thing.
The next day she had her backpack on by 9am although school doesn't start until 1. She asked over 100 times when it was time to go. She could hardly wait!
I asked her for a few photos, and she just busted out these poses for the occasion.
She loves school! She comes out of her classroom with a bounce in her step everyday. Within seconds of leaving the school she is unloading her backpack to show me her work. She is very serious about things begin done right, and is determined to start reading right away.
She's not afraid to keep us on our toes though. One night at dinner she went on and on telling us a story about how the girls chase the boys at recess trying to kiss them. We stared at her for a moment and asked "you were doing what??????????"
Without an over reaction we listened and asked questions about this new game. After further understanding we decided this was nothing more than lighthearted fun. (Although I talked to the teacher about it first chance I had.) She also admitted to being the one who had the idea, or perhaps one of the ring leaders... ? Sometimes it's hard to read a 5 year old.
Should I be more concerned that my daughter was chasing the boys trying to kiss them, or that it was her idea??!!??!!??!?!???
-Oh boy.
-This girl of ours.
-She's only in kindergarten.
-And so it begins.
-Days have changed since I was in school~

She has about a millions friends, I swear. When I pick her up from school we can't get from the classroom doors to the parking lot without a dozen "hi Miley" and "bye Miley"'s...
She's a friendly gal, and I am super proud of the confident young lady she is. She jumps into life with 2 feet. No matter what, I love this little gal and all that she is.
Enjoy Kindergarten this year sweetheart, and all that it has to offer. Keep being a terrific learner, and friendly to everyone you meet.
Just stop kissin the boys!! ;)
