Our Miley girl turned 5 years old this summer~ It's hard to believe she is growing up so quickly. One minute our baby girl, and ready for school the next. It is a pleasure celebrating Miley because the girl lives for a party. So, a celebration in honor of herself can literally making her dreams come true. :)
There were many celebrations in honor of our girl. And, with family nearby this year, our celebrations felt more like an extravaganza!
Let the festivities begin~
Miley's actually birthday fell on a Sunday and a day when most of the extended family was out of town. It was actually kind of nice to have a more low key day to focus in and celebrate our girl with just our family. This is the part I loved the most~ Watching her eyes light up with joy, and filling her with happiness from sun up to sun down.
Her morning began with her favorite breakfast, and presents first thing.
She consistently asked for 2 things this year and nothing more. So she was 'surprised' with her specific wants~ a pillow pet and a palace pet. She was delighted, her patience had paid off!
Later she was recognized at church. She was sung to, and given a gift from the bishop which made her feel special on her special day. :)
Dad took Mi's into the backyard for a few birthday photos. She had to make sure her build-a-bear was posed for a few as well.
Miley's Aunt Ashley and Uncle Josh took her out to build-a-bear for her birthday present, where she was able to design a bear of her choice. When she came home with this stuffed animal I could hardly contain my laughter...
Miley's personality in bear form!!
She loves this bear, and I'm so glad she takes pride in her work.
Absolutely love this beautiful girl!
After church we came home to her favorite taco lunch. From there we made homemade play-doh, and decorated cupcakes together.
The rest of the evening she played with her new gifts and enjoyed the nice weather outside.
She 'milked' her birthday for all it was worth this year~ She designed special privileges only birthday girls can have, and would be quick to remind us that birthday girls go first at everything. She knows she is a special girl and made sure her day was her way. ;)
Mi's is a great girl. We are very proud of the young woman she is becoming each day. Her placement in our family was made with precision from the Father. She is a natural born leader, and is excellent at fulfilling her role as the oldest child.
There is something special about your first born. Miley is so very special to us, we love her with all of our hearts and more!

Our dear Leeco girls sent these fun photos on Miley's birthday. They made a poster and wrote 'Happy Birthday Miley' on it, and then they took pictures in their kitchen and backyard. My guess is they were trying to see which photo would turn out better, but Jacalyn ended up sending both.
Miley was thrilled to see the birthday message from her girls! :) She immediately suggested that she send a picture back in return, and she was sure to get our kitchen and backyard as well. The girl cracks me up. :)

~And we're diggin' it in Salt Lake~
Throughout the week she had many of her admirers calling to ask when they could take her out for her birthday. She was treated to lunch and shopping with Grandma Kerri, and a special trip to the toy store with Papa Al. She was more than spoiled this year, and she has been thoroughly enjoying her new toys! Miley has become great friend with Mia who lives next door. Mia brought over a special birthday present for Miley gifting her with matching best friend bracelets. This was a very thoughtful gift that Mia picked out herself, and Mia was completely thrilled! The two girls wore their bracelets for weeks and linked them together every chance they had. Often times they would link their bracelets together and then try to walk around keeping them connected. We got a kick out of these two cuties.
When it was time to come in for the night Miley would sob her eyes out at the thought of having to be separated from her bestie. She couldn't wait until the morning when her bracelet could once again be linked up with Mia.

I wasn't planning on throwing Miley an additional birthday party this year, but as her birthday approached she would talk about her party as if it were already planned out in her head. We thought it probably wouldn't hurt, and would be a fun chance to get the family together. Especially because we may not be in Utah for a few more years. We knew she wanted to celebrate with her cousins. She wanted to have a swimming party at Grandma GG's as we have done in years past. Grandma Rolfe is always so gracious and kind to let us use and enjoy her backyard.
We decided to host a fiesta in honor of Cinco De Miley! After all she only turns 5 once! :)
We cooked taco's for lunch, let the kids swim, eat cake, and ended with a throw at the pinata.
We definitely have a girl who is worth celebrating!
I remember the day you were born. You were the greatest reward I had ever received for hard work and sacrifice. And you were oh so worth it! You gave me the gift of becoming a mother, and you made our family complete.
We love you Miley J.
