Grandma Kerri Turns 50!

Grandma Kerri turned 50 this past June. We were not able to be there to celebrate her special day. Her birthday came and past, but little did she know... her family had a little party planned all along...

I was the luckiest girl on the party planning committee. My job was to get Kerri out of the house so the rest of the family could set up for the party and cook dinner. We had the most fun day together! I started the birthday girl's day off with a make-over and then treated her to lunch. Afterwards I took her dress shopping to one of my favorite dress stores, and then we hit up a movie before we headed home. She kept saying "I can't believe I am just out on the town!" And "this is one of the very best days of my life!" I just had to smile thinking about what was waiting for her at home...

The family put together an entire  luau. The whole backyard was decked out in Hawaiian decor. Tiki torches and everything! Everyone was standing in the backyard waiting for us to come home. And of course they all yelled "SURPRISE!" and sang happy birthday when she arrived.


The little girls danced to the hawaiian music while we gave grandma our gifts. We were excited to give her the hand crafted Nova Scotian Nativity set we found at Mahone Bay NS to add to her collection.


She opened beautiful gifts, but the grand finale was the Mother's ring we gave her from the family. It's a really pretty ring with 6 birthstones for each one of her sons.

We had such a delicious dinner, and then honored her with a slideshow of her life, her beautiful family, and accomplishments.







The night would not have been complete without  cake and ice cream. Miley calls birthday cake "Happy Day Cake!!" And it is without a doubt her favorite thing these days.

She couldn't wait till it was cut to dive right in!

Celebrating Grandma Kerri's 50th Birthday was really one of the best day's and night's we have had. I am continually amazed at the son's this woman raised. Son's that sincerely love and respect her with all their hearts. They want nothing more than to see their mother happy, to honor and appreciate her, and to let her know she is special. This party was a complete success because it did exactly that!


Honoring 50 years of this amazing woman is a privlage and delight. We love her, and are grateful for her everyday.
