And, Our Adventures Begins.
We were ready to rock and roll bright and early the next morning.
Headed to Lunnenburg, and Mahone Bay, N.S.
and with the help of Daddy and Grandpa, rigging up these killer car seats, we were traveling in style...
I must say, for traveling backwards for many hours and many days, the kids were very good troopers.
Our first stop was the beautiful destination of Mahone Bay, N.S. One of our favorite places.
This town is so quaint, and it is so calm and wonderful to be there enjoying the atmosphere and beauty of the South Shore.
When throwing rocks in the Ocean, Scotlin likes to find the biggest ones, and he truly believes he has the strength to move them.
Our afternoon was spent enjoying the nice weather, and wonderful company. We had a picnic along the seaside, soaked in the peaceful, relaxing feeling of this community, and enjoyed feeding all of the friendly ducks. All with our parents by our side, which gives all of these memories even more significant meaning.
Our afternoon at Mahone Bay was a favorite of this trip.
Our next stop was in Lovely Lunnenburg, N.S.
When in Lunnenburg it literally feels as if we have taken a step back in time.
The town of Lunnenburg is something that has to be seen to believe. It has a feel, class, sophistication, and simplicity that can't be described.
We always enjoy the boardwalk, the colorful, breathtaking scenery, the sites centuries old, the ships, the shops and gift shops.Miley might have gone a little wild in the gift shop. She had to wear this hat that had a pirates skull on it. It said "Got Rum?" I don't think that was as fitting for her personality as this shirt she wore that said " you can take the girl out of Nova Scotia, but you can never take the Nova Scotia out of the girl." That would be more like our Miley.
It was such a hot, and muggy day. We stopped for delicious homemade ice cream. Our kids have fallen in love with ice cream cones this summer. Some say the best can be found right here in NS.
Sometimes when we find ourselves in destinations such as these we have to stop, and take a minute just to take it all in, and marvel at where we are standing at that moment. Contemplate the size of this world. The part we play in it, and the beautiful creations we get to enjoy while we are here. Lunnenburg, NS always gives me one of those moments. The best part about this experience is sharing it with the ones we love.
Mahone Bay and Lunnenburg are both about an hour from where we live. Even though it was a long day of traveling and site seeing, our fun didn't stop there.
We headed home for a BBQ together in the backyard where we could enjoy the lovely weather that night. Justin grilled us up some hamburgers and hotdogs, and mom and dad treated us to some delicious, fresh Valley corn on the cob.
The evening was wrapped up with swing sets and story time.
Having mom and dad here fills the empty places in our home and hearts. Hearing the laughter they bring to our children is like music to our ears. They can turn our regular everyday activities into cherished memories.
